On Sunday I got to go to the beach with Cata (the general manager) and her family. Cata and her husband are Italian but they have been in Lugo so long, they speak Spanish too. Cata played in the WNBA as well so she speaks good english, she's my translator...sometimes. haha. Anyways, we went to a beach in a small town called Mino. It was like an hour away from Lugo.
On the way to the beach we got stopped by the Spanish traffic police. Boy was that an experience! The only reason the police stopped Cata's husband (he was driving) is because he didnt use his blinker to change lanes. Come to find out, the police had been following us for 20 minutes because their car was an Italian licensed vehicle, so they were suspicious. Cata's husband had to show the police all kinds of paperwork and it took about 30 minutes of arguing back and forth with the police, just for him to give them a ticket for not using their blinker. They explained the situation to me once they got back in the car, but the whole ordeal was in Spanish, you see! I just sat and took pictures! lol Cata's 10 year old daughter sat in the back and laughed at me taking pictures. Cata said dont let him see you taking pics he might ask for your passport, and I dont have it on me, he may think youre an illegal immigrant and take us all to jail!!! It was funny!
So we finally made it to the beach, the water was ICE cold! But i got in anyways. (couldnt go to the beach and not get in!) Brrrrrrr!!!!!!
Today i had my first experience with the Spain media. It was just as if i was at UK getting interviewed. Only Cata was my translator and all the questions were in Spanish!!!! I think they like me here, no i know they like me here!
Well thats all for today. We have another home game tomorrow. That should be fun, i think the team is a good team. We put in another play, its called "cinco". Thank God i can understand that!!!!
Thank you for stepping into the Erod Experience!
Hasta luego!
